PhD/Post-Doctoral Positions in Computational Science
The Chair of Computational Science at ETHZ invites applications for PhD students and Post-doctoral Fellows to study the Fluid Mechanics of Collective Behavior. We seek outstanding applicants to conduct innovative research in a unique project at the interface of Computing, Fluid Mechanics and Life Sciences
Our goal is to develop innovative, multi-scale simulations of flow-structure interactions across scales as they pertain to fish schooling and blood mediated cancer cell metastasis. Uncertainty quantification techniques will link simulations with available experimental data. An essential aspect of this effort is the development of algorithms and open source software that harnesses the capabilities of High Performance Computing architectures. We envision the transfer of fundamental understanding of fluid mechanics and biological processes into relevant technological applications.
TEAM: The successful applicants will be members of a team composed of 3-4 Post- Doctoral fellows and 6-7 PhD students. The duration of the Post-doctoral/PhD appointment is for a minimum of one/three years, with possible reappointment for an additional 1/2 years years respectively. Salary is commensurate with experience. Funding provided by an Advanced Grant of the European Research Council (ERC) and ETH Zurich.
PREREQUISITES: We encourage applications from scientists with a strong interest in interdisciplinary research and the desire to contribute in a highly collaborative environment. Applicants background may include studies in: Computational Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics.
